C'laAA lulz tory Twelve years ago the Senuor Class of l954 started un a number of small schools whuch later con soludated to make what us now Velma Alma Ver few of our graduatun students started at euther Velma or Alma Marue Mutchell started at Vel usa gndt ety McCartney starte at Alma Roy Smuth moved to Velma about mud term from a Texas School us ruc ln the second year Countylune and Caddo consoludated wuth Alma and that brought Laura Lee Norton, Laverne Auld Pansy Shelton and Pe gy Hollus from Countylune Wesley Roberson and Raymond Hurst from Caddo Also un the second ear na Peters uouned us at Velma from Centergrove and Tex Parks from Prarue Dale Roy Smuth left us t at year but soon to return The thurd year Johnue Smuth came to Velma from Meruduan The fourth year proved to be a successful year because Santa Fe consoludated wuth Alma and Arthur consoludated wuth Velma From Santa Fe came La Don Gulmore Bonnue Stullwell and Margaret Whute Aqatha Gentrv came to Velma from Arthur Charlene and Kav Poque came to Velma from Mereduan and Roy Smuth reuouned us from Owens Prarue We lost one student that year Johme Smuth left Velma but returned fuve years later The fufth year was the buggest year of our hustory because Velma and Alma consoludated At thus tume our class consusted of suxteen students The class was stull duvuded though because euther school wasn t bug enough to carry all of the students Raymond Hurst left us that year and went to Lundsey Our suxth year was stull a duvuded one But that year Cecul Baker uouned the Velma duvusuon from Healdton Mary Moore from Woodland and Raymond Hurst came back from Lundsey ln the seventh year the whole class uouned at Alma and ut was our farst year un uunuor hugh That year Carmen Jackson came from Maysvulle and Betty MaShore from Corune We lost Mary Moore ln the eughth grade we neuther gauned nor lost anyone The year ran smoothly and we had a grand tume together ln our freshmen year we gauned Wayne Parsons from Wulson Mary Moore reuouned us from Unuon Val uated that year unto hugh school and were promusung hugh school students Johnue Smuth also reuouned us from Star It seemed that un our last few years we were not goung to gaun many new members but un our sopho more year we gauned James Harden from Lula and Betty Wulson from Faurfax That year our class was very outstandung and through our many efforts Beth McCartney won the football queen race Charlene Pogue, band queen race Our sponsor was Mr Holleyman ln our uunuor year we gauned Jeannue Coppage from Shawnee and Roger Matthews from Saluna, Kansas That year our class worked very hard and the uunuor candudate Jeannette Scott was ele ted annual queen Margaret Whute was basketball queen Our class favorutes were James Harden and Kay Pogue We gave the senuors a beautuful banquet wuth the tutle of run tume We had our furst class play that year and the tutle was The Green Lught Our sponsors were r Holleyman and Muss McCarty ln our Senuor year we gauned Geraldene Clower from Tecumseh James Towell from Fox, Norma Dug b from Davus and La uetta Burkhart who came back after a year of absence to funush hugh school hus yearwe workedhar er and won the annual queen electuon Geraldune Clower was our queen Agatha Gentry was bask tball queen and Tex Parks was basketball kung Our carnuval kun and ueen were Roger Matthews and Bonnue Stullwell Barbara Stune was musuc queen Mr and Muss A Hu were La Don Gulmore and Beth McCartney and our class favorutes were Wayne Parsons and Charlene ogue Our Senuor play was June graduate Our sponsors were Mr Holleyman and Mrs Morse We went to Gal veston on our senuor trup ln the year of l960 the l954 Senuor Class plan to make an unuted class effort to attend the alumnu banquet held durung the Chrustmas holudays Roll wull be held for our class that nught 20- o I . il ' . .
