hong kong VEGA pulled into Hong Kong, 29th of Dec. lt was a well deserved break, before going into Yokosuka, Japan for offload. Also a great place to spend New Years Eve. The British Crown Colony has much to offer in the way of sights and bargains. Breathtaking trolly ride up to beautiful Victoria Peak enabled us to have the entire view of the harbour. On the Kowloon side the crew had a chance to look at Communist China. There were many options to go shopping. Starting at China Fleet Club, a branch of the Navy Purchasing Department, moving out to many shops and open sidewalk markets. Hong Kong is also well known for its many tailor shops, where VEGA men had an opportunity to expand their wardrobe. Before anyone knew it we had to bid farewell to this exciting port, and prepare for offload in Japan.
