Class 0 1959 Our high school career was begun with initiation. The climax was an all-school party. During this affair, we were given one more dose of torture by the seniors, and afterward we were considered true members of the high school. The fall of 1955 also found us working on our first homecoming float. We had decided that we wanted to start a fund for a trip to be taken immediately after graduation. A huge food sale was planned during our sophomore year. It was a success, and the money started our fund. The Junior-Senior Prom and the Junior Play were the big events of our 1957-58 school year. We gave three one-act plays: The Wedding , Casanova Jr. , and Sally and the Villain . Each re- ceived an enthusiastic response from the audience. Nearly everyone in the class had a part in the production. We all breathed a sigh of relief as the curtain closed the final time. The money from this affair and other activities financed the Junior-Senior Prom, which was held at Purdue University. We realized our dreams on May 16, 1958, when everyone arrived at the Union Building, and the long awaited evening began. After the banquet, everyone danced to the music of a campus orchestra. The theme of the Prom was An Affair to Remember . A special showing of the movie by the same name was arranged for us at the local drive-in theater after the Prom. In the wee hours of the morning, our mothers provided us with an enticing breakfast. We had the popcorn and sandwich concessions at the football and basketball games during our last year of high school. Skating parties, a car wash, a play, and other money-making schemes were used in an effort to earn more money for our trip. Now we are all anticipating spring with both joy and sadness. This year, 1959, marks the end of our high school career. Each of us wonders what the future holds and hopes he can fit into society successfully. And even though we are sad in leaving the good ship, V. H. S. Pintus, we are leaving happy memories behind.
