SENIOR PROPHECY s ' I hobble up the street to see who the celebrities are. After the kids have. left, I find Dallas Keeling and Dick Kelley sitting on the sidewalk, supporting each other. I help them to their feet, and help them to brush off their clothing. Dick, Dallas, and I stagger into a sidewalk cafe and order coffee. Discussing our life over our coffee, I discover Dick and Dallas are now playing baseball with the.Yankees. I glance at my watch and discover it is growing late. We shake hands and bid each other good- bye, and I go on, leaving my two old classmates. I proceed on my way when a big block-long limousine pulls to the curb and a fashionably dressed lady steps from the automobile onto the sidewalk. There standing before my dazzled eyes stands Merdith Rainey. Mert invites me to a lecture at Carnegie Hall to be given by Dorla Town- send, Dean of Women, at Indiana University. Mert and I step into the car and are sped away to Carnegie Hall. On the way Mert tells me she struck oil in her backyard when the car she was driving collided with a huge stone that covered an oil well. I The car stops at the Hall, and we go inside to hear Dorla's interesting lecture on the gracefulness of bell lyra playing. After the lecture we go backstage and talk to Dorla about bygone days. While we are conversing, there is a knock at the door, and in rushes Bonnie Keeling. A joyous re- union follows, and then we settle back and listen to her story of success. Bonnie is now the most successful author in the world, and was awarded the Nobel prize for the novel, f'The Love Life of An Agriculture College. I leave my former classmates with regret and go about my way in New York. ' ' I buy a newspaper and turn to the sport page. The sports articles are still raving about the top-speed record set by Chester Bass. My my! What! Chester Bass! I hurriedly read the articles. Chester Bass, win- ner of 1966 in the 500 Mile Race. Why I had no idea Chet was a famous racer. Another feather in the hat of the Class of '52. e I turn, to the front page and find a picture of Bill Kinneer staring me in the face. I quickly read under the picture. Scientist Bill Kinneer returns from discovering new planet. The planet has been named Kin- neer's Haven in his honor. Just think, a classmate of mine has a planet named in his honor. I haven't time for any more thoughts then, because I collide head on with another pedestrian. . I glance up to see Homer Furr with his head sticking through a newspaper. We pick each other up, and after a long laugh, begin to talk. Homer tells me he is now head of M.G.M. Studiorin Hollywood. Homer also tells meJackie Baldwin is now the star of his studio,,and she has won the Academy Award for the best actress for three straight years. I made a mental note then to see more movies. . I walk up the street into a whirlpool of orange liquid, and wake up to the present with a start. Why here I am still staring at my glass of orange juice. Ho Hum! Time to leave for work! It's a responsibility being director of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. 4 ' -MORRIS CORNELL.
