SENIOR PROPHECY . As I awakened from a deep slumber, on the morning of June 10, 1966, I recalled my strange dream of the night before. The dream kept popping into my mind, and I couldn't forget it. While I was eating my breakfast, it occurred to me why I remembered the-dream. I had dreamt of every one of my graduating' class. I 'looked at my glass of orange juice, and there I saw the same scene I had seen in my dream last night. I'm standing in the middle of Central Park in New York with people strolling by me. I quickly leave the park and walk to Radio City. I'm rushing by the C'.B.S. TV Studio, when something catches my eye. I wander back and see a huge life-size picture of Jerry Harper staring me in the face. I glance under the picture to read, The singing and yodeling star of C.B.S.. But I even receive more of a start when I read LaVeda Cooper - Director, at the bottom of the poster. My, what successful class- mates. I pass the Metropolitan Opera House and see that the opera Carmen is on tonight. I buy a ticket, go inside and settle down into the comfort- able plush seat. I glance at my program and faint. After smelling salts have been given and a glass of water has been brought to me by the usher, I again look at the program. Yes, there it is. W Kathleen Meeker is singing the role of Carmen. Well, Kitty always did have a brilliant voice. The lights dim and the orchestra files in. Oh no, another surprise, Donna Berlin is playing the oboe in the orchestra. Wow! What celebrities I had for classmates. Someone sits down beside me and touches by arm. I glance around and see Robert Bennett in the uniform of a General. He tells me he is the new Secretary of Defense. We talk about old school days until the curtain rises and the worderful story of Carmen unfolds before our eyes. When the final curtain falls, I bid Bob goodbye and leave the theater. I then continue on my way in New York. As I wander by a beautiful modernistic building, I hear someone call my name. I turn around and see Nancy Crane standing in the doorway of the building. We talk, and she tells me this is her Fashion Salon where she models, and all of her latest creations are shown. Nancy also tells me Mary Ellen Holt is now a well-known actress on Broadway, appear- ing in a smash hit. As I remember, Mary Ellen became interested in dramatics while working on Senior play. I leave Nancy and continue upon my way. Irstop to admire a beautiful streamlined auto in the show win- dow of a huge Auto Agency, when I see a familiar face. It's John Torn- quist. I rush inside and practically pounce upon him. I hadn't seen John since graduation, and this is no time to be formal. He tells me he owns this agency and takes me on a tour of the building. After we return, we start talking about the car on display, and John tells me the auto was designed by Bob Minnick, now one of the top auto designers in the United States. My chest expands more each minute with pride for my classmates. After John and I exchange farewells, I continue my tour of New York. One minute I'm walking ,along admiring the scene, and the next my face is smashed into the concrete sidewalk. A mob of screaming teen- agers trample over me and rush on up the street. I pick my bruised body off the sidewalk and look about for the source of the stampede. I glance a block up the streetin 'time to see two men engulfed in a flood of autograph hounds. .

SENIOR PROPHECY s ' I hobble up the street to see who the celebrities are. After the kids have. left, I find Dallas Keeling and Dick Kelley sitting on the sidewalk, supporting each other. I help them to their feet, and help them to brush off their clothing. Dick, Dallas, and I stagger into a sidewalk cafe and order coffee. Discussing our life over our coffee, I discover Dick and Dallas are now playing baseball with the.Yankees. I glance at my watch and discover it is growing late. We shake hands and bid each other good- bye, and I go on, leaving my two old classmates. I proceed on my way when a big block-long limousine pulls to the curb and a fashionably dressed lady steps from the automobile onto the sidewalk. There standing before my dazzled eyes stands Merdith Rainey. Mert invites me to a lecture at Carnegie Hall to be given by Dorla Town- send, Dean of Women, at Indiana University. Mert and I step into the car and are sped away to Carnegie Hall. On the way Mert tells me she struck oil in her backyard when the car she was driving collided with a huge stone that covered an oil well. I The car stops at the Hall, and we go inside to hear Dorla's interesting lecture on the gracefulness of bell lyra playing. After the lecture we go backstage and talk to Dorla about bygone days. While we are conversing, there is a knock at the door, and in rushes Bonnie Keeling. A joyous re- union follows, and then we settle back and listen to her story of success. Bonnie is now the most successful author in the world, and was awarded the Nobel prize for the novel, f'The Love Life of An Agriculture College. I leave my former classmates with regret and go about my way in New York. ' ' I buy a newspaper and turn to the sport page. The sports articles are still raving about the top-speed record set by Chester Bass. My my! What! Chester Bass! I hurriedly read the articles. Chester Bass, win- ner of 1966 in the 500 Mile Race. Why I had no idea Chet was a famous racer. Another feather in the hat of the Class of '52. e I turn, to the front page and find a picture of Bill Kinneer staring me in the face. I quickly read under the picture. Scientist Bill Kinneer returns from discovering new planet. The planet has been named Kin- neer's Haven in his honor. Just think, a classmate of mine has a planet named in his honor. I haven't time for any more thoughts then, because I collide head on with another pedestrian. . I glance up to see Homer Furr with his head sticking through a newspaper. We pick each other up, and after a long laugh, begin to talk. Homer tells me he is now head of M.G.M. Studiorin Hollywood. Homer also tells meJackie Baldwin is now the star of his studio,,and she has won the Academy Award for the best actress for three straight years. I made a mental note then to see more movies. . I walk up the street into a whirlpool of orange liquid, and wake up to the present with a start. Why here I am still staring at my glass of orange juice. Ho Hum! Time to leave for work! It's a responsibility being director of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. 4 ' -MORRIS CORNELL.
