Vaughnsville The band this year has the largest membership since its organization, with a total of fifty-six students. The band contains ten trumpets, thirteen clarinets, nine saxes, four trombones, two basses, two baritones, three alto horns, two flutes, six percussions, and one glockenspiel. We spent two enjoyable but tiresome days marching and playing at the fair. Not too long after that there was a fall festival. It should be called a winter festival because we all froze, it was a very cold night. The night was spent marching and playing with all the Putnam County bands in a parade at Ottawa. The band spent one of its best years making formations at basketball games. Under the guidance of Miss Jones we played and marched at all home games except two which unavoidable circumstances caused us to miss. SECOND ROW: FIRST ROW: Donald Jameson, Betty J. Band At Christmas time the band gave a very good concert. At this concert we played various marches and a few Christmas specials. We have a full spring of practice, work, and fun planned for us. On April 14, the district auditions will be held at Ada. The state, if we get there, is in Springfield on April 28. The Vaughnsville High School Spring Festival, in which the band will partici- pate is to be held in the V. H. S. Gym on Sunday April 22. Three of our local band members represented our school in the district festival held at Kenton on February 17. Those chosen to go were Janice Williams, clarinet, Ray Dean Stemen, tenor saxophone; and David Young, cornet. Bill Myers, flute, was also chosen but was unable to attend.
