MUSIC The musio department of the school, manifested In the school band, girls' glee, boys' glee, and nixed chorus has been an active group this year. Speolal music for various Community functions, a special Christmas program in connection with the grade school, competition work, a spring auslcal,and music for the graduation festivities comprised the work of the various groups for the year. On March 2 l, a group of twenty students entered in the district solo and ensemble contests held at Bowling Green State University. Ratings received were as follows - Superior; Robert Bryan, singing the tenor solo BGoin' Home ; Edgar Vance also in the tenor competition, singing ■Vale ; and Robert Riley,entered in the baritone class,singing B9ea Fever . Also rated superior was a mixed ensemble composed of Luclle Riley, Donna Belle Hamilton, Doris Jean Dunlap, Carolyn Myers, Marlen Sherrard, Paul Jackson, Lawrence Musgrave, and Theron Jackson. This group sang What If a Day .' B Receiving an BExcellentB rating,the Boys’ Quartette composed of Theron Jackson, Norman Smith, Paul Jackson, and Robert Brvan, sang BAahes of Roses.■ The Senior Girl's Ensemble received a Very Good rating. It was composed of Shirley Jameson, Doris Young, Delores Miller, Janice Smith, Ruth Myers, Lavonne Grubenhoff, Verona Jervis, Donna Belle Hamilton, and Lucille Riley. This group sang BIn Assisi. All that received Superior at Bowling Green will Compete in State Competition, which is held Otterblen College, Saturday, April 23. In the larger group competition at Ada our band received a Superior rating, granting it the privilege of competing in the State finals held in Springfield on May 1 »-. It will be one of two bands to represent the Northwest District in the state finals in Class CC. The Boys' Glee Club also received a Superior rating and will seek to bring honor to the school in the state finals. The Girl's Chorus received an Excellent rating and will make its final appearance of the year at the Bacculaureate services. v THE REMINDER

Row 2 - Mr. Dean Fleming, Jack Klausing, Norman Smith, Lawrence Musgrave, Wendell Stephens, Marvin Griffith, David Young, Donald Jameson, Jack Weseli. Row 3 - Owen Tudor, Holland Auchmuty, Cai-roll Miller, James Bur- man, John Smith, Bob Dean Reed, Duane Young, Billy Syfert, Paul Miller, Robert Smith. Last fall the chapter was organized and the officers were elected. In ordei to be promoted from first degree of ureen Hands to Future Farmers degree, the boy must earn two hundred dollars on his projects. The candidates for the State Farmer are chosen by a State Committee. To date Vaughnsvllle has thirteen State Farmers. Those applying for State Farmers Degrees this year are John Foulkes, Bob Foulkes, and Dean Litten. The pre-requisites are good projects, leadership, sports- manship, thrift and at least seven hundred and fifty dollars in project earnings. The F. F. A. boys sponsored a rest Hunt and the losing team furnished an ice cream party to the winners. This organization has been progressing very rapidly and has built a riant in the history of Vaughnsvllle.
