On Anrll 25, the Seniors of Vaughn9vllle High School Dresented to a packed house their class play Mumbo Jumbo by Jack Barnard. It was a gay, modern mystery farce, crammed with action, loaded with laughs. Dick and Pee-Vee, two college boys, arrived at Dick's uncle's house In the country. They were there on some mysterious mission and were not at all dismayed -hen they learned that Uncle John had been called awey to a funeral and they were to have the place to themselves. They were not at all dis- mayed until they realized that their money had disappeared. At wit's end, needing cash In a hurry, they decided upon the desperate plan of turning the place Into a country hotel. They hung out a sign on the state highway, and as the night whs a dark and 9tormy one they soon had a houseful of Ill- assorted guests. There was Harold Custer, a timid young man and his fright- ened mother; Pe ches breeding, a ha.rd-bolled chorus girl; Ur. Beamish, a mysterious blind man who tapped his way with a cone; Dr. Omahandra, a West Indian mystic; Kay Saraedl, his beautiful and strange oatlent, and Madame Celesta, a Haitian witch doctor. That night a murder was committed and one of the guests was slain. The Sheriff of Milburn arrived to take charge of the Investigation; so did Miss Emma, the Sheriff of Hopetown. For the house was built on the county line which bisected the living room, placing the evidence In one county, and the corpse In the other. You can Imagine the consternation and rlgamarole of the Law. So Involved did It become that Dick had to tfke over, and with the help of twelve-year-old Daisy finally solved the crime.
