t- Oi 00 CLASS HISTORY ■Those Kids certainly don't look like Seniors .' Why, 1 can remem- ber when they were In the first grade. Yes, but It has been twelve long years of hard work and fun. Our class consisted of twenty-seven members when we were Freshmen and we considered ourselves quite grown up when we graduated from the eighth grade and entered high school. In our Freshman year we made all the mistakes that Greer Freshmen are supposed to mAke (plus a few more). To us this was our year of class parties. From that year on we were known as The Hay-Ride Kings . (Oh, for the good old days.') The honors of holding the first class offices In high school went to the following: President Dale Evans Vice-President Betty Steraen Secretary Alice Varkentln Treasurer Ruby Lltten News Reporter Mlnetta Bushong Class Sponsor Miss Virginia Sapo After three months of recovery we felt we were able to Journey back and now be classified as Sophomores. This year we lost a member of our class, and gained one; therefore, our class membership was still twenty-seven. Alice Warkentln left and Urban Selhorst entered this year. We elected the following officers: President Doris Blockberger Vice-President Dene Asklns Sec.-freas. Mary Myers News Reporter Ivan Smith Class Advisors Miss Betty Jean Price Karl foretell During the last month of this term we selected our class rings. Our Junior year gave us many thrills, and after experiencing two previous years of High School, we now felt we were veterans. We received our class rings, presented our wonderful chapel pro- gram to the student body, gave our class play, Life Begins at Sixteen to a packed auditorium. Mr. Kuhlman directed our play. Our class officers were chosen as follows: President Gene Asklns Vice-President Ruby Lltten Sec.-Treas. Martha Foulkes News Reporter Monetta Bushong Class Advisor Mrs. Ernest Carpenter We completed the year with our reception In honor of the Seniors of ' 6. Our prom was a very colorful event and the Hawaiian theme was carried out In every detail. This year we lost Urban Selhorst, Betty Sobosly, and Ida Sneary. We now had twenty-four In our class and still it was the largest class In the school. We felt very proud of ourselves, getting through the year as smoothly as we did. The only real confusion was caused by Minetta, changing her harae to Monetta. Being Seniors In 19U-6- 7, we felt that It was at last time we assumed the dignity that this honored position entitled us to. We used wise Judgment In electing the following officers, who were to head us through this, our last year at VHS. President Dale Evans Vice-President Martha Foulkes Secretary Doris Blockberger Treasurer Martha Seaman News Reporter Monetta Bushong Class Sponsor Mrs. Gaylord Myers Again this year we put our greatest efforts and abilities to work to put on another outstanding play. We were guests at a wonderful re- ception given us by the Juniors. Baccalaureate and Commencement formed their Impressions to be remembered In later years and by these activi- ties another class departed from VHS ready to face the world.
