There are many demands being made on the Public Schools of today. Different groups have presented their needs and requested that certain courses be taught in accordance with these needs. No one can doubt the value of more English, more Science, more Mathe- matics, more Foreign Languages, more Social Science, more Voca- tional courses. Driver Education, Safety Education, Alcohol Nar- cotic Education or other courses, some which are now offered and others which are requested, but there is danger of which we must be aware. That is being concerned only with the quality of the courses offered. No schedule is necessarily good simply because it contains a vast number of different courses. The main question is, does it meet the needs interest of the individual student? We must take a second look at our curriculum and carefully evaluate it in this light. Seldom is an institution of learning fortunate enough to have in one man all of the needed qualities of a great executive. Vanoss now has that man in Mr. James L. Barnes. After many years of service to our school, Mr. Barnes has shown outstanding ability in the fields of ad- ministration, scholarship, and public affairs. To show our appreciation for his willingness to help us in any worthwhile thing we strive to do; for all the extra work he has done in helping to make the dreams of an enjoyable high school a reality; and for his determination and desire to do anything in his power to make our school a better place and the students in it better citizens, the Sen- ior Class of I960 proudly dedicates this edition of the Wolf Call to the esteemed principal of our school and worthy sponsor of the senior class --Mr. James L Barnes. ‘Dedication 2
