GOOD-BYE, OLD SCHOOL Goodbye, old school and classmates too, Farewell, these scenes so dear. It grieves us so to leave you As parting time draws near. The years have brought us lots of fun with friends that we all know; We’ll think of each and everyone As through the years we go. —Senior Class of ’52 FOREWORD I am happy to express my appreciation to the students and patrons of the Vanoss Public School. I know the students are the best I have ever dealt with, and the patrons have given the school the best support and cooper- ation I have ever received. Without the cooperation of each student, patron, faculty member, board of education, all employees of our school, and our community organizations our school could not be a success. Many times our community is judged by the kind of a school we have. Everyone has his problems, and every problem that is handled in a fair-minded cooperative way strengthens our school. Undemo- cratic behavior weakens our society. How we solve our problems determines how democratic our community is, and how strong our school. No thoughtful man ever came to the end of his life and had time and a little space of calm from which to look back upon it, who did not know and acknowledge that it was what he had done un- selfishly and for others and nothing else that gave him satisfac- tion. DEDICATION As we, the Seniors of 1951-52, think of the annual we think of Mrs. Mary Neasbitt, her enthusiasm, and untiring efforts on behalf of the Student Body. Mrs. Neasbitt has been the commercial teacher at Vanoss High School for the past seven years. The publication of our school paper, The Wolf Call,” has been under her supervision during this time. We feel that the publishing of this annual is due largely to the leadership of Mrs. Neasbitt, who stimulated and aroused interest. To show the sincere affection and appreciation which we hold for Mrs. Neasbitt we dedicate to her this year’s annual. ADMINISTRATION MARY BURNETT H. S. Eng. Dona McKinney, who is the only senior on the team, was chosen as one of the All-Star players of Pontotoc County. To Mr. Brashears and Coach Sales goes much credit for the suc- cess of the team. ACTIVITIES ANNUAL QUEEN The popularity of petite Joyce Abbott is attested to by her unanimous election by the seniors as their Queen of the An- nual . Only five feet tall and weighing a scant ninety-nine pounds, this dainty blonde senior is witty, amiable, and completely charming to all who know her well. The seniors are proud of the out- standing scholastic record of their ann- ual Queen who is entering the forth com- ing scholastic meet at East Central State College, in both shorthand and bookkeeping. Although Joyce enjoys all school sub- jects, her favorite is shorthand. Her After school plans are indefinite at the present time, but it is probable that she will make some use of her ability in the above mentioned business subjects. ALL AROUND BOY The friendly grin, easy going dis- position, and perpetual twinkle in the brown eyes of Kenneth Childers make this 6 ft. 4 in. senior a favorite with all who know him. Excellent work has been done by Kenn- eth in all academic subjects, but of these fields his preference is mathe- matics. Besides doing above average work scho- lastically, this all around boy has been outstanding in sports. For four years he lettered in basketball, and won letters two years in baseball. At the close of this school year Ken- neth plans to join the Navy for a 3 year term before making definite plans for civilian life. F. F. A. King, Jackie Martin. Sue is 5' U”, weighs 106 pounds, and is a Sophomore this year. Her charm and personality have made her known throughout the school. Sue is an active member of F.H.A. and has been chosen as a voting dele- gate to the State Rally in Oklahoma City. She played on the basketball team. Her favorite subjects are World Geography and Homemaking. The latter she plans to put to practical use at some future date. F. H. A. KING A husky boy with a winning smile cap- tured the hearts of the Future Homemaker girls and they elected him King. To Jackie Martin, the chapter presented a jacket with their emblem and the words Vanoss King. This 18 year old senior weighs 180 pounds and is 5' '8 tall. Jackie has won other honors, these include parliament- arian of his class and the Future Farmers of America. A member of the Vanoss basketball team he won a place on the Pontotoc County All Star Team. He let- tered in football two years at Allen be- fore coming to Vanoss his Junior year.
