I wondered what had become of the Class of 1959. To my wondering, I began daydreaming. In my dream the hazy outline of the past enshrouded me taking me over the earth finding my old classmates. I -was taken first to my hometown where I decided to visit the new consolidated school, Vanwellg you can imagine my surprise when I discovered that Reggie Luzader was Superintendent! While inside the school building, Bill Cole, a Board of Education Member, came to see the Superintendent and ordered the children to get to work. After I had toured the new school building, I decided to take a walk around the city. Vanlue's govern- ment had changed since I had been in high school, andl was surprised whenl read on one of the windows in the Municipal Building Mary Fiegel, Manager. Mary's managing ability had finally paid off. When I tired of the buildings and scenery in Vanlue, I decided to look at the surrounding countryside. Tom Hagerty owned most of the land surrounding Vanlue. He acquired it by purchasing from families leav- ing the vicinity. He was also a happily married man. About three miles from the Vanlue Corporation limit was Gary Graves factory. He had developed a new car, called theJ -Sparrow. His car is great competition for Ford. As I traveled from Vanlue to New York, I thought about my classmates who had stayed in Vanlue, but I was more curious to find out about my classmates who had gone to New York. As I stepped from the atomic powered subway in New York, I saw Bob Kitchel. Bob was a famous physicist, who had discovered a way to make water feel dry. He was also the President of the Kitchel Foundation Incorporated, which was an organization for scientists only. While in New York, I went to a very famous church for servlcesg as I knelt to pray, I glanced up and saw David Shaferly, the Bishop of the church. I knew David had always wanted to be a minister, andl drought he had been very successfuL I traveled on to Boston and stopped in to see one of my friends. She asked me ifI should like to go to a lecture. I told her yes. Powell Prater was the speakerg he was classed with the great orators of the world -- second only to Cicero. While leaving a theater in Boston, I saw an old friend, Connie Wilcoxg she was now married and had six children. She was busy being a mother and keeping up her social prestige. From Boston I took a taxi and went to Washington D. C. Charlene Smith was the First Lady. Her ability in filing proved useful to her since her husband, the President, needed someone to keep things in order. From Washington I boarded a plane and headed for the West Coast. I deviated a little from my course and went to Florida instead. I decided to take a rest and reside a while in one of Miami's plush hotels. While on the beach I ran head-on into Esther Fruth. I found she was head of the Home Economic's Dep- aI'tlTl8I'lI. She had started as anassistant buthad been promoted until she had become head of the department. She knew all there was to know about the new method of cooking with atomic power. I boarded a train in Miami to go to Texas. Whenl arrived in Texas at the famous King's Ranch, J oe Saltzman me: me at the station and took me to the ranch in one of me newl -Sparrow cars now on the market. Joe had become an agricultural teacher. He taught school in the fall and worked on the King's Ranch in the summer. After my visit to the King's Ranch, I rented aJ' -Sparrow car and drove to Arizona. The Champion- ship Bowling Contests were being held in Phoenix. Ronald Heck was again defending his title for the eighty- first week. , I strolled over to the swimming pool, and who do you think I saw! Linda Herman! She was a famous movie actress on location in Arizona. We had lunch together and talked about old times. Marlene Smith was also in Phoenixg she was secretary to the Director of Warner Brothers. we had a long chat, and she told me all about her job. I decided to leave directly for San Francisco instead of going to Montana as I had planned. In San Francisco I found four of my classmates. Nancy Bame was an apprentice to Edith Head, the famous dress designer. Miss Head said thatNancy had great talent and had every indication that she would become a prima designer someday. Since I wanted to go to a theater, I asked some friends if they would recommend a salon in which to have my hair done. They all recommended Shirley's. The proprietor was none other than my old classmate Shirley Kliesch. She had salons throughout the world, her headquarters in San Fransisco. After I had my hair done, I decided to go to a near by gym for some calisthenics. Leading the calis- thenics was none other than Rose Thompson. She was the coach of the International Tennis Team. Her team won the Davis Cup in the Olympic games in Australia. This was quite an achievement since this was the first time a girls' team had ever won the Davis Cup for the United States. After I left the gym, I took a walk in the sunlight. I walked past a playground where children were swinging and playing games. I stopped for a moment to gaze at them and smiled. Just then I saw Ruth Mc- Cormick. She was the head of the school which took care of only elite children. I was aroused from my daydream whenl heard someone say, Fasten your seat belts. I smiled to myself as I thought aboutmy dream and thought it surely was fantasy: just as I thought this, I had a queer feeling. My inner instincts seem to tell me thatl really had had a trip. I wondered if such a thing could be. But who knows!
