The Challenge . . . The Christian message to the World must be fervent if it is to be effective in fulfilling its pur- pose. Some denominations, missionary societies, and theological colleges, as well as innum- erable individuals, realize that the best intellectual and socializing activities can never be substitutes for regenerating power and saving grace. This is the challenge to students and graduates of Southern California College. This is the Gospel's answer to the youth of today. Our generation has witnessed youth's demand for freedom and the fact that they are securing what they demand, but now, becoming tired of this long coveted liberty, they are asking, What next? Let the students of SCC size this situation up and, by radiant witness, lead a multitude into the freedom which is bondage to jesus Christ. The weight of responsibility which falls to you need not create anxiety and defeatism. A quick look behind at the maze of difficulties through which the Spirit has safely guided you is cause for much rejoicing and we repeat I Samuel 7:12 with no small satisfaction, Hitherto hath the Lord helped us The word hitherto causes us to remember past mercies, but it also points for- ward. When a man gets up to a certain mark and writes hitherto , he is not yet at the end, there are still distances to be traversed, more struggles, more joys, more temptations, more prayers, more answers, more fights, more victories. The graduating class will realize before long that the achievement of their final year, though noteworthy, will' probably be only the intro- duction to a succession of achievements . These will not all be academic of course, but their attainment will deposit in the bank of memories all the accrued interest that is guaranteed when we trust God for our lives . Be of good courage, then, and raise your Ebenezer for. . . I-le who hath helped thee hitherto, will help thee all thy journey through. O. Cope Budge President Administrative Cfvuncil E E .1 PQ . .' .
