Like Heroclitus, a naturalist believes everything changes whether they be things, people, governments, or whatever.. But the evangelical believer holds that there are some basic realities which never change. In this day of scientific and technological change, so many wonder if there are any absolutes on which one can stand. A scientific revolution is taking place according to one writer, which makes the seven wonders of yesterday look like the seven ho-hums of the world. As a conse- quence of this seething change, one may wonder if there are fixities to which one can anchor. We believe there are. The author of the Epistle to the Hebrews writes, jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. g and Malachi of old, l am the Lord, I change not. The balance between the absolute and the relative is beautifully expressed by john Henry New- man, Change and decay in all around I seeg O Thou who changest now, Abide with me. At Southern California College we attempt to adjust the curricular and extracurricular to the day in which we live, while the great commitments of Christian faith and faithfulness are held to be age abiding. We believe that the truth of God should be made relevant to the world as it is to- day. But this relevancy does not involve its repudiation. The terms in which truth is expressed may be changed, the truth itself, in fact, can never change. The education furnished to students at Southern California College is designed to be thoroughly Christian both in content and in intent. Education is not an end in itself. It is a means by which one can be better prepared to do the will of God in this world of flux and fixity. Sincerely, W ZWUMG S 14 G. Cope Budge President
