VANDERCOOK HIGH Vandercook Lake High School, now a school of three hundred and eighty-four students and a faculty of eighteen, had its beginning in 1922, when the east wing of the present building was completed. Before this, students went to the old Dra- per School for grades one through eight, and those in high school went into town. 1926 saw the first graduating class of six students. Today we have fifty-seven seniors graduating. Every year our enroll- ment increases. This year we have one hundred eight in the eighth grade, al- most four times the number in 1926. In 1930-1931, the west wing of the building, including the gym, was com- pleted. Ever since, Vandercook has been expanding. Our two most recent additions are the shop, built in 1952-1953, and the band room finished in 1956. Vandercook Lake High School is not just a building - it is the students, fac- ulty, clubs and teams working together to make Vandercook a better place to learn and work. We have done a good job so far - let's do even more to make the history of our school one full of pleasant memories.
