X 4 X 0 1 X XX X X f r Q3 X of Not so often remembered for their superior playing abilities-more often noticed by frequenters of the Pub when sour notes are played or turns are missed-the members of the NROTC band provide music to drill by on Thursday aftemoons. They can always be heard playing heartwarming renditions of Anchors Aweigh and The Marine Corps Hymn. The band's most important function as far as the midshipmen are concemed is during Fall and Spring Review when music is provided as the batallion passes the reviewing stand. The band has occasional obligations to perform at other times away from the unit. The members performed admirably at the Marine Corps Reserve Birthday Ball at a time when most would rather have been at the Vanderbilt homecoming festivities. Four of the members also performed at another Marine Corps Birthday ceremony. Early one Saturday moming the band showed up at the Marine Corps Reserve Center to provide music for a retirement ceremony. And who can forget the presence of the band at the Army vs. Navy football and basketball games! With only sixteen or so amateur musicians and practices two aftemoons a week, the band has its work cut out. The members add something special to the NROTC Unit that could not be provided by any other group.
