SCHUERMAN Dean of School of Medicine Dean of School of Engineering I hr Braun DEAN LEATHERS is the guiding light of the Medical School and the god-father of all medical students. Dr. Leathers is recognized as an authority on preventive medicine as well as a thorough teacher and a capable executive. It is remarkable that 'Dr. Leathers and a number of his medical faculty in the whirl of their crowded Work have the opportunity to consider the many extra-curricular interests of the medical students that they so carefully tend. DEAN SCHUERMAN is one of the most respected Figures that is connected with the uni- versity. He is a teacher of no mean ability and well qualified in other respects to form the policies andqcarry out the work of the Engineering School. The position of prominence which our Engineering School now holds is due in a large part to his efforts. The title Dean of Men is quite inadequate to cover the multltude of con- ' II ' I cerns and interests that fall upon him. Whatever else may come his way, Mr. Sarratt does I I 21 World of good in his capacity as chief adviser to the university both collectively and as I I I individuals. He is never too busy to talk over the lowliest freshman's troubles with him, I I or to consult with the members of any student organization on any problems they may have. ' I I Il I DEAN STAPLETON is to the women students what Mr. Sarratt is to the men. She is the con- fidante of the girls and the ready friend of all. She is endowed with the gift of an I I enthusiastic spirit and an unlimited interest in university affairs. Dean Stapleton has her I. X I hands full the year round in guarding over her women students and furthering the equality I I X of women. She has a host of friends among the men and Women students and the faculty II I as well. It is chiefly to his efforts and greatly to his credit that in the last few years 'Q' the Vanderbilt Rural Preachers, School has flourished. 5 ACTING DEAN SEAY, of the Law School, while new in his duties as head of the school, EA 5 fl is by no means a new figure on the Vanderbilt campus. For years he has been one' l of the most popular teachers in the law school and in the university as a whole. When A Qgfll it became necessary to choose a man to put in charge ofthe school recently there was no hesitancy on the part of the university authorities in selecting Mr. Seay, nor has W i 3 1 . . 1 fl' there been the least unfavorable comment on the cho1ce. It is only to be regretted that E15 his large private practice will prevent him from assuming the duties permanently. ii 1w1' 1 Si 51' . . . . . . , WU On the whole, Vanderb1lt has a rlght to be Just as proud of her administrative oHicers as she is.
