Its pages tell the story of sacrifice and hardshipsg the omissions so evident in its records, stand for the depleted ranks of Vanderbilt students, whose duty lay elsewhere in the year 1918. But its very existence is proof of the fact that Vanderbilt spirit can never die. That indomita- ble spirit has brought the university through the two years that have passed and will make of it a greater Van- derbilt in the years that are to be. That this annual may embody something of that spirit is the earnest Wish of its editors.
