Ji' E. 'iwT'Z... ...Qi 'A Standing: S. Mammen, Mr. Blythe, I. Isbell, Vice-President. Sitting: S. Brooks, President, B. Brooks, Sec.-Treas.g R. Purtilar. NATIO AL HO OR SCCIETY Up in spirits, high in grades, they're on top in character, leadership, and service! Even though our organization of the National Honor Society is in its infancy stage, the group of five girls with their sponsor, Mr. Blythe, have worked to encourage and acknowledge students who achieved high scholastic ratings through-out the year. In doing this the society arranged a unique party of stunts, folk dances, and relays. At Christmas time the girls undertook the project of gathering toys, repair- ing them, and delivering them on Christmas Eve. We are told that these girls do have to work to achieve their scholastic standing, but you never hear of them writing daily letters to Einstein, telling him what is wrong with his theory of relativity. Nor do they have to go around stooped in thought and wearing horn-rimmed glasses, or pushing their books in a wheelbarrow, now and then a suitcase-yes. Seriously, they are a busy group, finding time for their extra curricular activities and studies. Through character, leadership, service, and a good report card as a ticket, eleven new members were inducted into the honorary society. The new members are Robert Chandler, Edward Chappelear, Wayne Crawford, Benton Kains, Iohn Metzger, Richard Minor, Albert Thomas, seniors, and Patricia Balsiger, Iacqueline Pittman, Allen Schmid, Frances Stansfield, juniors. e722
