OFFICERS OF F .H.A Left to Right: R. Merriman, I. Meredith, E. Kirkpatrick. Future Homemakers oi America This is the regular meeting day for PHA. The first period classes will be omitted. The bell rings, and about a hundred enthusiastic girls rush to the gym. Here under the able guidance of Miss Whitford and Mrs. Cramer very interesting meetings were conducted this year. Outstanding features on the programs have been the talks on savings by Mr. Coral Brooks, the lesson on good grooming by Mrs. Edward Mills, and the discussion on mental hygiene by Miss Marjorie Scaife. Personality, laughter, and hard work-that's what PHA. girls are made of. ln addition to planning the regular meetings, the girls carry out different activities for earning money. They sell concessions at basketball games and prepare lunches for grade students. With this money they sponsor their annual Mother-Daughter Banquet in the spring and help finance delegates to the leadership training camp in Bloomington. The social events of the fall included a Wiener roast for the FPA. boys at the city park and a Play Day at Farina. Then in November the club Was represented by four local members at the I-louse of Delegates in St. Elmo. ln February the new members were initiated at an impressive candlelight ceremony. Progress was made in two other ways during this school year. Mrs. I. B. Turner served Well as the first chapter mother, and the members began serious Work on earning the different degrees of the chapter. KZS9 President ..... .... E dith Kirkpatrick Vice-President .,,.
