The Vandalite at present, as in the past, is recognized by the lllinois State Press Association as one of the outstanding school papers published in lllinois. B uth Purtilar As the curtain goes up on our Thespian Troupe 245 we find the major roles taken by Suzanne Brooks, president, Bill Wilson, vice- president, and Ruth Purtilar, secretary-treas- urer. While some members of this busy organiza- tion are learning their lines, others are hard at work behind stage seeing to it that every little detail is timed perfectly. Bill Wilson, our stage manager, Suzanne Brooks, make-up chairman, and Anna Lou Spinner, property manager, worked ambitiously with their committees in R. Purtilar, B. Wilson, S. Brooks presenting Hlanuary Thaw, our most important production of the year. Besides presenting one act plays for the stu- dent body, speech contests, and community organizations, the Thespians toured to Scott Field where they presented a one act play at the hospital. The following students were initiated into the Thespians at the end of the first semester: lane Stombaugh, Ioyce Pummill, Carole Bay, Sharon Bass, Marilyn Chappelear, Ieanne Meredith, Forrest Thompson, Lyle Ellicott, Ed Chappelear, Iim Staff, Paul Break, and Bill Baldwin.
