EXECUTIVE OFFICER CDR Gary W. Uhlenkott u.s. NAVY Commander Gary W. Uhlenkott, USN, was born in Helena, Montana. He attended Seattle University in'Seattle Washington. Upon graduation in December 1967, he entered Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island and received his commission as Ensign. Early sea assign- ments include department head tours aboard the USS Hampshire County lLST-819l, USS Pawcatuck lAO-108l, USS Chandler lDD- 717l and USS Roark lFF--1053l. Commander Uhlenkott has had shore duty assignment as Officer in Charge of Naval Activities United Kingdom Detachment, Holy Loch, Scotland and Surface Warfare Officers School Command, Newport, Rhode lsland as Administrative Officer and Director of Support. Other significant tours include Staff Operations and Plans Commander, Destroyer Squadron Thirteen and Executive Officer of USS Southerland lDD-743l. Commander Uhlenkott's personal decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal lwith Combat V and two starsl and the Navy Achievement Medal.- His unit, campaign and service awards are the Combat Action , the Presidential Unit Citation, the Military Unit Citation the Battle Efficiency Medal lwith two E s l, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal l three starsl, the Sea Service Ribbon lwith starl, the Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation and the Vietnam Service Medal.
