EXECUTI E OFFICER CDR JAMES A Commander james A. Hough graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in june 1966 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. His early assignments included Communications and Electronic Material Officer aboard U55 DUNCAN KDDR-8742 from 1966 to 1968, which included a major deployment to Vietnam. Then N.O.C. Officer and Assistant Operations Officer in Operation Giant Slingshot while attached to Commander River Patrol Flotilla Five, in the Mekong River area of South Vietnam. Following that tour of in-country duty he was selected for U.S. Naval Destroyer School at Newport, Rhode Island and then assigned as Weapons Officer on USS HAMNER IDD-7782 making two more deployments of Vietnam. ' After his tour aboard the Hamner, Commander Hough reported aboard the USS FT. FISHER KLSD-402 HoucH, usN as a member of the precommissioning crew as the First Lieutenant. ln january 1974 he reported to DEP- COMOPTEVFORPAC where he worked as Project Officer. At his next assignment he saw clutywith Commander Amphibious Group One as the Assistant Operations Officer and the scheduler for Seventh Fleet Amphibious Forces. After graduating, with distinction from the Armed Forces Staff College, Commander Hough, reported onboard the USS VANCOUVER and assumed duties as the Executive Officer. A Commander Hough holds the Bronze Star Medal with Combat V and two Navy commendation Medals with Combat V and the Navy Achievement Medal. He is married to the former Mary Kathryn Higgins of San Diego, CA where they now make their home. K l
