This school was built in 1887. The first wing: of our present school was built in 1912. edolldwz The 1954 Alki Staff dedicates this yearbook to three people: Williarn H. Conover came to Vancouver High School in 1925 as an industrial arts instructor. In 1934 he was named Vice-Princi al and served ' in that capacity until 1948, when he became Director of Student Acti 't' vi ies. Mr. Conover will 'retire from V.H.S. after 29 years of service, but he still lans to continue his activities as treasurer of the 'lpeachers' Credit Union. Mr. Ferde Moore was first seen in Vancouver in 1906 when he operated a delivery service. He did most of his trave ing in this business by horse and wagon. We owe Mr. Moore a debt of gratitude for he ' was partiall responsible for the opening of the Memorial Building. He came to V.H.S. in 1931, but moved to Shumway in 1936. We are glad he retumed to Vancouver High in 1942 to keep our school spark- ling. F rom Omaha, Nebraska comes the third person we wish to honor He is Morey Pressl He k d . y. wor e on a newspaper there for eight years. We all know him f h' or is years s ent as adviser and counselor of the Trapedero Cluls He started at the Trap in May 1944 and left in 1953 to take the office of secretary in the Vancouver B.P.O E Lodge Number 823 Th . . . e young people of Vancouver will always be grateful for the wonderful times spent with Moe at the Trap.
