Manly Mahon, Ass't. Coczch Howard Jirmasek, Mrmagcv' Marshall Shields Coach Opening the season in the Football Jam- boree, the Trappers walked off with a 20-0 win. In the first league game, Vancouver dropped a 20-13 game to Longview. At home next against Aberdeen the Red and White smashed to their first conference win by 6-0. Going into the last quarter trailing 7-6, the Lincoln Abes rose up to smack the Trappers by a 25-7 count in the non-league game played at Tacoma. On a wet and sloppy field the Olympia Bears invaded Trapperville to suffer a 6-0 loss. In their fourth League game the Trappers met defeat against the powerful Centralia Tigers. Against Hoquiam the Trappers opened with a bang, scoring their first touchdown on a pass, but Hoquiam came back fast and scored two touchdowns to win the game, 14-6. At home against the Kelso Highlanders Vancouver dropped a 13-0 contest as the Trappers were held scoreless for the first time all season. Playing their best ball game of the year, the Trappers Walked all over the Everett Seagulls on a sea of mud to the tune of 18-0. Against Camas in the Trappers' final game, Cam- as walked off with a well earned 26-7 victory. Basketball Marshall Shields, Coach With only three returning lettermen the Trappers went into the title race anything but a favorite. Being riddled by graduation, the team lost four of its starting five players of last year's second place State Tourna- ment team. The Trappers' initial contest found them facing the always powerful Kelso Highlanders, whom they defeated 61 to 44. The pre-season favorite, the Lumberjacks, provided Vancouver with their next opponent and were also beaten, 40 to 36. Meadows was handily defeated 51 to 32. The Trap- pers' Winning streak halted at Camas with a 40 to 36 loss. Still in a slump, they dropped a close 40 to 39 contest to the Battle Ground Tigers. Back in winning form, the Trappers swept their next two games, defeat- ing Chelalis 59 to 44, and Kelso 42 to 35. Perhaps the most controversial game of the season was played at Longview where the Trappers were nudged by the Lumberjacks in the last 15 seconds of play, 45 to 44. Meadows provided stiff resistance for three quarters before bowing to the Trappers 49 to 38. Avenging their first round loss, Vancouver walloped Camas by a 64 to 37 count. The Trap- pers were beaten by a red hot Battle Ground quintet 59 to 36 in the Tiger gym. In climaxing the season the Trappers treked to Chehalis to hand the Bearcats a 45 to 36 licking. Highlighting the season was the breaking of the S.W.W. scoring record by Frank Guisness. Guisness surpassed the old record of 184 points with a total of 233 points. The Trappers were represented on the All-Conference team with the selections of Guisness to the first squad and Larry Smith to the second team.
