SOPHOMCRES SOPHOMORE CLASS OFFICERS: Earl Sherburn, Treasurer, Secretary, Sharon Simmons, President, Ronnie Butler, Vice President, Eddie Knittle. ' As the farmer, hoping for an abundant harvest, prepares his ground and plants the seed, we, as the present Sophomore Class spent the first year of our high school life in adjusting ourselves and be- coming firmly rooted in the activities, work, and friendships of Van Wlert High School. This year we have been cultivating our character plowing out the weeds, and therefore strengthening the good traits. Wle have tried to help carry out the work of the high school better than any Sophomore Class be- fore us. To guide our class in this task of prospering we have chosen as President, Ronnie Butler, Vice President, Eddie Knittle, Secretary, Sharon Sim- mons, and Treasurer, Earl Sherburn. Several mem- bers of our class have the honor of wearing the new black and red ,robes in A Cappella Choir. The Sophomores of the Van Wlert High School Band should be complimented on their Fine perform- ances during football and concert season. Wle have many Sophomores participating in such organiza- tions as, Future Homemakers, Future Nurses, Y- Teens, F.T.A, ,Hi-Y, V-Club, Masque and Gavel, Latin Club, and science Club. In the athletic fields we have many members active. We have thirteen Sophomore boys active in football. Our class has contributed two majorettes to the high school band. They are Barbara Geary and Carolyn Bailey. X t To cheer our boys on to victory in basketball and football we have chosen as a reserve cheer- leader Deanna Sherman, and Jean Campton as Varsity. Sue Nieford was chosen as attendant to our homecoming queen. VVe as the present Sophomore Class hope to continue upholding the high morale of our school. Wlith the constant guidance of our faculty and the essential friendships needed to obtain our goal, we are certain to continue prospering as we have these last two years. fSharon Simmons This page sponsored by Van Wen I.G.A.
