Freshmen enter the doors of V. W H S FRESHMAN CLASS OFFICERS: Chuck Fowler, president, Connie Tabor, Treasurer, Jean Ann Campton, Secretary, Dave Feasby, Vice President. FRESHMEN On September 9, 1957, Van Wert High School was invaded by a hoard of 194 little green people, freshmen. The first thing we did was to elect our class ollicers, Next, we elected Jerry Butler, Dave F easby, Barb Geary, and Mary Ann Hedges members of the Rendez- vous Committee. Earl Sherburn, Chuck Fowler, Loretta Keirns, Carolyn Bailey, and Jean Campton were elected to serve on the Student Council. Carol Niles, Jean Campton, Verona Witherow, and Sue Stewart were the four freshman girls on the reserve cheerleading squad. Fourteen of our boys played on the freshman basketball team, and twenty-six played on the freshman football team. Five played on the varsity team. For our Homecoming attendant, we chose a cute pixie, Loretta Keirns. Carolyn Bailey and Barb Geary were majorettes, and Peg Blake served as an alternate. Twenty-five of our music lovers represented us in the band g eighty-one, in the freshman chorus. This year, Sharon McCarty and Jean Campton became members of the Decla- mation team. Alice Stemcn, Grace Phenegar, and Sue Stewart were members of the varsity debate tcam. Ronald Zinsmeister was a member of the reserve debate squad. We have walked through one of the four doors to success. Some of us have run, and some have stumbled, but we will keep trying. - Sue Stewart 22
