bers of the cast all showed native ability and good dir- ecting. They were Martha Jones, Helen Kruse, Jane Woten, Donna Miller, Em- ma Lee Martin, Virginia Al- len, Carol Spaulding, James Showalter, Donald Under- wood, Ronald Oswalt, Glenn Woten, David Gluth, Richard Hudson, and Charles Poling. A twenty-one year tradi- tion was broken when the Van Wert High School bas- ketball team became league champions for the second consecutive year. We were justifiably proud of the five juniors who contributed to this record: James Showal- ter, Richard Mosier, Richard Baltzell, Rodger Palmer, and Fred Wells. Both junior boys and girls took top places in the intra- murals. Many of our class contrib- uted their time and talents to the band and chorus. Richard Hudson was drum majorg Donald Underwood was a soloist for the band concert. Janice Purdy was a member of the girls, sex- tette and also an accompan- ist. In spite of the grimness of global war, we have had good times and will cherish many happy memories from these past three years. We know how much Van Wert has done for us and how much she means to us. At long last we realize we are becoming the men and wom- en we hope to be. -Robin Mosher Lininger Longsworth Manship Martin Martin Maxwell Medaugh Merris Miller Miller Mocabee Moore Moore Morgan Mosher Mosier Myers Myers N eif ord O'brien Oswalt Palmer Parsons Parsons Pearson Phillipy Poling Poling Pontius Purdy Putman Ralston Rhoads Riley Robey Saulisberry Scarpelli Schaadt Shaw Showalter Smith Snavely Spaulding Springer Stripe Stuckey Thomas Tindall Tobias Uncapher Underwood Unterbrink Wagonrod Wells Wherry Wild Wilkinson Williams Woten Woten

Realizing the responsibili- ties and increased extra- curricular, civic, and war activities ahead, elections were the first thing on the agenda. Student council represen- tatives were James Showalt- er, Mildred Becker, and Richard Mosier ifor the third timel, Phyllis Schaadt, David Gluth, Robert Lininger, and Kenneth Bartlett. Our class ring committee, composed of James Showal- ter and Janice Purdy, gave us excellent selections from which to choose. The junior class play. a comedy, Foot Loose, was greeted by howls of glee from the younger members of the audience and much appreciated by all. The mem-
