20 EXCALIBUR-1945 CLASS PROP!-IECY Looking back over the many years since we were dignified seniors of Van Wert High School, we remember well our aims and desires. Some of them were fulfilled and others-well-!!!???!! We find, as you will see, that the war af- fected the lives of many. Rosalie Adams, whose greatest desire was to be a nurse, is now employed at Lockheed Aircraft and to her friends is known as Rosie, the Riveter. Pat Agler worked in the Equity so long she finally got enough experiences in this line and is now running a chain of stores of her own. They are all the Agler Dairy Stores, Wileta Anderson became so skilled at vol- ley ball that she is now on a tour of the country teaching the losing teams her 'itricks of the trade. Mary Ashburn is, and has been for ten years, singing com- mercials on the radio. Richard Babcock and his wife are hap- pily married and living on their farm at Middlebury. Dick Barson is now a famed chemist, rated in the same class as Ein- stein. Ray Bates was drafted before school was out and when he went across, he met a Madamoiselle. He is still in France. Joan Becker never found her ideal so she is running an Old Maid's Home in Con- voy. Earl Beverly took over the spotlight when The Duke stepped aside. He is known as Boogie Beat Beverly, world's greatest ivory dealer. The man shortage is still critical so Ruby Billieu is now a jockey in the Crack Pot Derby. Gene Blue took Fred Astaire's place and is do- ing all right on Broadway. Guy Boyer is an undertaker and his first customer was his wife. tHe got over-anxious for a customer after five years.J Billie Jean Brubaker owns her own dress shop. No woman is in society unless she wears a dress designed by Billie.', Dick Brubaker stumbled on his life work. He is a con- tortionist in Paul Byer's Circus. Mary Lou Buchner is also employed in the circus as a trapeze artist and tight rope walker. Phyllis Burley models dresses at Macey's Department Store. John Bury is now the head of the D.S.C. tDistrict Street Cleaners? of Van Wert. Dorothy Campbell is the author of the current best seller, How to Have Beauti- ful Long Hair? Bill Carter is featured with Carter Brothers at Madison Square Garden as roller skating champion and acrobat. Betty Chambers has her own shoe store whose slogan is, We sell shoes to fit the head, not the foot. Kenneth Clay took over the St. Mary's Blanket Company right after he graduated. Peg Coupland went to Miami University and her I.Q. was so high, she was hired there as the Latin instructor. Mary Dannecker is playing Cand sell- ingb popular sheet music. The place: Mur- phy's 5 and 10 cent store. Patty DeBolt and Jack Lininger married as soon as school was out and went on a tour of Eur- ope. Doyt Dickson, who was known as Speedy, is now known as 'fSpeedy, The Killer Clady killerb. Jessie Dilworth is known as Dr. Sawbones Dilworth. She can be found at the Lima State Hospital. Ruth Dodge is a model for Chen Yu Nail Polish. Delores Downing is happily mar- ried and living near Berne, Indiana, on a farm. Janet Eichar is a twirler for the army-navy band. Kathryn Eschbach is running the You Gain or We Lose Res- taurant in Arkansas. Don Ferguson has taken Tyrone Power's place on the screen. Dick Finch is head stable boy at the Van Wert County Fair Grounds. Virginia Fink- housen is secretary to the secretary to the King of England. The queen of the Follies is none other than our own Betty Fisher with Bill Flanagan as her Business Man- ager. Dorothy Fleece is a barber because she can't stand long hair. Jim Forwalter, who lost all his teeth trying to get a front seat at Schine's to hear Frankie Carle, has decided to become a dentist. Art Frer- icks now owns half of the Brumback Lib- rary through his pull in school. Joyce Frick and Dick Metzger were married and now own their own little grocery store in Dixon. Harry Fryer took Harry Hopkins' place in the White House. Elnora Gallant is a model for a Junior Size Clothier in New York. Mary Gal- laway has her own All-Girl Orchestra now. It goes on tour from time to time when it gets a bid. Barbara Garrison is in the same class as Bach, Handel, and Chopin. Mary Garver is in charge of the switchboard at Central Mfg. Company. Pat Gekler is making a tour of the Great Lakes Naval Training Station looking for ther man. Bob Grandstaff is now a Pro Basketball Star for the Zollner Pis- tons. Jeanie Graven went to Lima State Hospital for treatments under t'Sawbones Dilworth and is still trying to recuperate. Janet Grill is head dietician for Delores Guthrie's Flea Circus. Robert Halliwill is the present World's Champion of the Soap Box Derby. Alda Jean Harper finally received a promotion and took Miss Hardy's place at the library. Barbara Hennermann is now the auct- ioneer for the Liggett and Myers Tobacco Company. Pat Hines is the Pharmacist for the Hines and Son Drug Store. Elmer Hisey is the new cement mixer ldue to war conditions, they use Elmerb. Howard Hoffman is night watchman for the Penn- sylvania Railroad. Vernon Horther checks attendance at the opening of each Congres- sional meeting at Washington. Richard Hughes is head usher at the Strand Theatre. Don Huhn discovered a way of using the clinkers out of furnaces. Graydon Jerome is known as the Real Scientific Brain.
