Davis for two years be- fore he came to Van Horn. ' Mr. Smith attendedEast Texas Bap- tist College in Marshall, Texas. Later he attended Sul Ross State Teachers College in Alpine, Texas. We are very proud of Mr. Smith and the work he has done during the time he has been here. We, the annual staff, want at this time to wish Mr. Smith good luck dur- ing the time he is here at V,H,H,S. A .A if say., P VAN HOR EAGLES ,L .- pk., The Eagles won the title District Champs in 1954. They played Hermleigh for bi-district, tied the game 19-19, and lost to Hermleigh by 50 yards. Again they carried the title District Champs in 1956 and played Hemleigh for bi-district. Patsy Carroll, junior, is football sweetheart. BEST LOOKING Robert Russell is a good looking senior. Jacqueline Carter, senior, is class favorite. BEST ATHLETES Mary Ann Bippes, a sophomore, is a guard and forward on the basketball team, Mary Ann plays in the band and she is on the annual staff. Bill Herrera, a senior, plays guard in bas- ketball. He was very outstanding in football. MUST INTELLECTUAL Janet Terrell, a junior, plays forward in basketball, She has a part in the junior play. Janet is very active in the band, Charles McLure, a junior, is very active in the band. Charles played football. MUST LIKELY TO SUCCEED Deana Morris, a senior, played guard in basketball. She is Editor-in-Chief of the annual staff. Melvin Bippes, a senior, is the track cap- tain. Melvin and Deana have a part in the senior play.
