Fwst DIVISIOH Raung ln lnspecuon Van maintained its first d1v1s1on rating in inspection which it received 1n the region four marching contest in Longv1ew while a second d1v1s1on 1n marching was awarded to the band Directed by Mr Ross Hay and the new as sistant d1rector Mr W C Turbeville the band performed at many school activities These in eluded half time act1v1t1es at football games and at basketball games Individual band students entered the solo and emsemble contests at Nac ogdoches Other highlights of band activity included a trip to the state fair in Dallas and the local spring concert A tr1p to Memphis Tennessee for the Cotton Carnival in May climaxed a very success ful and profitable year r ,.. if VANDAL HIGH STEPPERS These perky girls are the Vandal band s twirlers and drum majorette They are, from left to right Pat Russell Lfinda Matthews, Beverly Null Cindy Spruiell and Sandra Sue Smith ATTENTION -- The Vandal Band pauses on the football field as they practice for the weekly Friday night half-time showat the football games. The superior playing and intricate march- ing drills were a result of much hard work by the band.
