It is generally conceded that the Class of 1948 is the smallest in number that will be graduated in many years from Van Etten Central School. Size in this case, relates only to number, for faculty mem- bers and fellow students all agree that in class spirit, cooperation, interest and industry, you loom large indeed. For these fine class qualities you will be missed as well as long remembered. With high school days behind you and while taking up your various stations in life, try always to remember those attributes that so marked your success as upperclassmen. You will thereby make good neighbors, good citizens and will truly be known as friends of men. We would have you consider these greetings as a joint message from your two principals of 1947- 1948 for Mr. Phelps and I take great pleasure to- gether in your friendship and together we wish you the best that a full life can offer. The roll call included: Amos Austin, George Talada, Mae Squires, Donald Holton, Thomas Gundy, James Grover, Ada Bogart, Eini Aura, Jane Parke, Gertrude Dean, Marian Garrison, Beverly Cook, Marleah Fitzgerald, and Frances Wright. During the year another name-- Fayette Rolls--was added, Our Sophomore year found us with nine members left. Donald Holton, Thomas Cundy, Gertrude Dean, Marian Garrison and Fayette Rolls did not return. In our Junior year we gained one member--John Bender--but lost another--James Grover. Amos Austin left us during the year. Eini Aura advanced to the class ahead of us and John Bender left during the latter part of the year. At the beginning of our Senior year, we gained Irene Fitz- maurice but she left us at mid-term. We found ourselves very busy earning money for our Washington trip during our Easter vacation. We had four dances, a magician show, sold cards,A magazine subscriptions, and pencils, In March, with the assistance of the Classes of '50 and '51, we presented an evening of one-act plays. Our hard work, however, proved to be well worth while because we finally earned enough money to finance our trip to Washington. At long last! Then, exams-- and finally, graduation! e 16 45: E1 lf. ,A 6 W' WE, the Class of 1948, of the Van Etten Central School, Van Etten, New York, realizing that we shall soon leave this life, make and publish this, our Last Will and Testament: I, GEORGE TALADA, will my ability to skip classes to Gene Everett.
