l2lASS HISHIRY Seven excited first graders entered the doors of Middle Point High School September 8, 1941 to begin their 12 year career. The six girls and one boy were: Alice Bal- dauf, Janet Parker, Sandra Kay Beach, Mary Jane Myers, Carol Ann Kimmet, Virginia Cottingham , and James Van Demark. During the year John Crisenberry, Shirley Klinger and Patty Myers increased the num- ber in our grade to ten. Miss Obe- nour helped us through our most difficult year. When we entered our room to begin our second year we found that our teacher had been promoted with us, but for some unknown reason her name had changed to Mrs. I-Iornish. In the fall of 43 we found we had left our first and second grade teacher behind and this year we were in a new room with Miss Dol- bey as our instructor. While in the fourth grade Miss Dolbey had to put up with only three pupils. The fifth grade really was re- markable not only because we went up stairs and had a new teacher, Miss Thatcher, but our class had whittled down to an enrollment of E, Alice Baldauf and Kenneth Nichols, Our teacher had a vacation when both of us were absent. Since we added Bonnie Kimmey to our class we could now boast six, quite an improvement over last year' two. Again this year Miss Thatcher was our teacher. Eight members constituted our class the first year of junior high. Mr. Ivan Bailey presided over, Alice Allemeier, Alice Baldauf, Donna Bragg, Marilyn Dermeyer, Bonnie Kimmey, Kenneth Nichols, and Jerry and John Ramirez. Eugene Blankemeyer came to our school during the year. At last we were in the last year of grade school with Mr. Bailey as our home room teacher. We lost Alice Allemeier, Jarry Ramirez, John Ramirez, and Marilyn Dere- meyer but gained Jack Peck, Frank Pollock and Robert Bailey. Mary Hurley was with us for only a short time. The big time finally came, we were in high school. Miss Margaret Jones was the sponsor of the seven greenies , Alice Baldauf, Donna Bragg, Robert Bailey, Eugene Blankemeyer, Bonnie Kimmey, Jack Peck, and Frank Pollock. In our Spohomre year we had the same advisor, Miss Jones, By gaining Carolyn Wueller and losing Eugene Blankemeyer our class num- bered seven at the end of the year. Because Max Gamble joined our class we had a total of eight our ju- nior year. Along with the Prom, the play Nowhere Fast and trying to get money for the class trip, the juniors were kept pretty busy. The big night has arrived! By special invitation we are going to see a perform- ance of The History of the Qformerl Ridge Seniors of l953. As the curtain rises we see eleven tiny, awe-stricken first-graders under the instruction of Mrs. Smith, Members of the cast in the first act are: Juanita Grunden, Ralph Matthews, Ray Sterling, Janet Bowers, Charles Sanderson, and Kay Maxson. Margaret Dunifon, Mary K. Poe, Josephine Clark, and Gene Goodwin are in the starring roles. Gene Goodwin shoots a paper-wad and is immediately sent to the office. Similiar occurrances are repeated several times during the play. Mrs. Smith is also the teacher in the second grade. When the pupils go through the third grade, they are under the instruction of Miss Slattery. Through the grades, many pupils are added and many more move away. When the pupils are in the fourth and fifth grades, Mrs. Hyman is the instructor, and in the sixth, it is Miss Ramsey. The curtain falls and the first act is over. After a short intermission, the curtain Goodwin, Byron Good, Paul Moorman, Barry Groathouse, Virginia Ross, and Frank Pollock. The students seem to be very excited about something, We hear one of Them exclaim Golly, just thinkl We're in Ju- nior High now, right upstairs with all the high school. Mr. Hebb is the instructor during the seventh grade and Mr. Wood is in the eighth. Nothing very exciting happens during this act except that everyone is anticipat- ing the third act, when the students are in high school. Another short intermission and the curtain rises again, this time on only seven players, Mary K. Poe, Margaret Dunifon, Josephine Clark, Gene Goodwin, Byron Good, Paul Moorman, and Bill Hart The freshman year began with initia- tion. What an ordeal! During the sophomore year the big excitement was the ordering of the class rings which came at the beginning of the Junior year. Most of the Junior year was centered around the class play Have a Heart , and plans for the Junior-Senior Prom. My, what a lavish affair! The theme was In rises again. The cast has changed some- the Garden of Tomorrow . The evening what. Players now on the stage are Kay began with a banquet and later everyone Maxon, Mary K. Poe, Josephine Clark, danced to the music of Don Underwood's Margaret Dunifon, Nelda Bradford, Gene orchestra. The final scene is rather sad but it is new and different too. Middle Point and Ridge Schools have merged and are now one. There are ten members in the Senior class: Bonnie Kimmey, Alice Baldauf, Carolyn Wueller, Josephine Clark, Margaret Dunifon, Mary K. Poe, Marcia Priddy, Gene Goodwin, Paul Moorman, and Jack Peck. What with the class play, Moon Shy , annual, Prom, graduation, and class trip, besides the usual classes, tests, sports and parties, it is a very busy year. The play is over now, The cast is sorry to see it end because they have enjoyed the time spent on it and have also received some valuable pointers from it for future use. Although they are sorry to see it end it is also a relief to know that it is over, and too, everyone is anxious to see what the future holds for him.
