Council plans 1978 cl successful year The Van Buren High School Student Council has 24 active members. lVlr. Walter Rockwell and lVlrs. Linda Gant sponsor the Council and all its activities. The 1977-78 Student Council went to Boston, Massachusetts for the annual national convention. Under the direction of president lVIike Brooks, the Council purchased a school van. The van is to be used for athletic trips and school business trips. The total cost of the van was 7,678 dollars. The Student Council also sponsored football and basketball home- coming, and worked on revising the school constitution. To help meet the cost of their sponsored activities, the Council operated the concession area. Since 1974, the Van Buren High School Student Council has been elected state president, vice-president, and three times elected, secretary-host. llVIore than any other school in this state.l 1977-78 Student Council officers in- clude: lVlike Brooks, president: Tommy Strickland, vice-president, Jennifer Organ, secretary, and Karen Fritts, treasurer. Together the council officers and its members strive to improve student-teacher relationships, promote general welfare for the School, and improve the school morale.
