Chants, sign-making, parade help promote spirit Enthusiastic yells, busy-body student, and sign- making parties were common sights in 1977-'78, Stu- dents had much to support as the Pointers represented the 4-AAA conference in the state play-offs. Homecoming, too, was high-spirited while the Pointers surprised the high-ranked Rogers Mountaineers with a 29-0, everything but blue victory. Spirit sprang up all around. The mini-parade was spiced up with a new float contestant from the Spanish classes. Denise Gramlich added beauty to spirit as football homecoming queen Oct. 14. Echoes of the Pointer fight song sounded as quarter- back Vint Bell and split-end Delmar Parks connected with many touchdown passes. Tailback Mark Douglas excited Pointer fans many times with his 60 and 85 yard touchdown runs. The indominable Pointer spirit that began with a touchdown pass from Senior Vint Bell to Junior Delmar Parks at the Van Buren-Alma game will continue until the last senior receives his diploma at Blakemore Field. Denise Gramlich is crowned queen at Blakemore Field. 16 Enjoyment HE hiss: , F if si.
