The Pointers won the county and holiday tournaments by wide mrgins and took the Northwest Arkansas Conference Championship without a defeat. The Pointers opened their season by playmg some of Oklahcma's finest basketball teams and took most of their defeats in the open ing phases of the season After getting off to a wcbbly start, the Bird Dogs than notched twelve straight triumphs Then after a mid season lull, they finished the season with more wins being chalksd up Having won all fourteen of their games without a set back, they rode at the helm of the conference They lost at the District lleet in the finals by one point but were invited to the State Tourney any way In the state meet the locals drew the second best team in the state, the Camden lild Cats, and walloped them 42 to 32. In the quarter finals against Little Rock they were defeated in the elos ing seconds by a 38 to 36 score, lho DePriest and James West were voted all state, and DePriest was named the state's most valuable player, The Pointers are losing some valuable material in lest and De Priest via graduation.
