THE DIXIE CLASS PROPHECY Wh1le wa1t1ng for my tram I entered the Cleveland Llbrary Whxle the hbrarlan was ln quest of a certaln book I gazed at the large pamtmgs there one of whxchg 1n partlcular caught my attentlon I mvestlgated and found this famlllar slgn Splv learned that he Lloyd Chavxs had become a famous artist I sat down ln a huge chalr to enjoy my book entltled but as I opened lt I wa qulte startled to see not plctures but real hve characters I dlscerned a large mterlor part of a hospltal where a stately curly halred matron was rapldly g1v1ng lnstructlons to several first class surgeons I dlscovered the matron to be Mildred Feller The next page revealed a woman lxttle boy and gurl lntently llstenlng as the radlo announcer sald Thls vlolm selectlon was rendered by Raymond Edwards a member of the Greater Symphony Orchestra wlth Lloyd Chavls dlrector Thxs explamed that the woman was Dolores Powell fEdwardsJ On the next page a large stadlum full of people rang as the people shouted and cheered as the vlctorlous Umverslty of Southern Calxforma s football team was warmly greeted by the head coach my old frlend Earl Neuman The next page dlsclosed a brxlllant dlsplay of Jewels whose rays danced across the countenances of the guests ln cludmg the Hoovers the Lmdbergs Edlson Ford and many others At once I re cognlzed the speaker as Rosanna Huntmgton, Amerlcas first Sec of Educatlon ln the Presldents Cablnet As thls scene faded I saw a large Slgn beautlful wlth purple llghts bearlng the message Vlolette Bed Hotel ' Proprletress Vlolette Nebergall Three small chlldren were gayly sklppmg rope on thelr shady home lawn Matxlda a prlm maxd mterrupted Mrs 7'7 Q formerly Mlss Spangler our class sponsor! ln her readmg by the announcement Soups On The next scene whxch pleased me greatly was the realization of a dream of one of my frlends There she stood a fine lady havmg r1sen from a good Home Economics teacher to one of the worlds foremost fashlon makers Dorthle Swltzer A great throng eagerly awalted the appearance of the new Secretary of State When this oflicer appeared he got qulte an ovatlon and I readxly recognlzed hlm as Dan Cornwell our annual Edltor ln Chlef The sound of voices brought rlch muslc to my ears In a large Cathedral the pupxls of the Chlcago Conservatory of Muslc were pre sentxng a sacred cantata I recognlzed the smlllng director as Lanore Feller another frlend A large crowd hllarlously cherred a glrls basket ball team Sulted ln Black and Orange as OIIICIBIS presented the cup to the coach of the Champxonshlp team of the Umted States As she turned around dlsplaylng Van Buren s huge trophy I was sur prlsed to see my own likeness Just as I finlshed my book the sun went behlnd a cloud I bought an extra and read ln blg headlmes Judge Neeland our Senlor Presldent had become a famous Judge of Crlmlnal cases Another blg headllne stated that a new altxtude record had been set by Charles Swab head of Amerlca s greatest alrport I overheard some conversatlon whlch revealed that Davld Burrell by a slmple ln ventlon had progressed so rapxdly that he had run Henry Ford out of buslness I entered a theater and wltnessed the productlon of the college play Johnny ln the Love Score Wlth John Brandeberry as the hero In the vaudevllle presentatlon I was pleasantly surprlsed to see Flossle Norrls gracefully danclng wlth the Zxegfleld Follles glrls By the ald of the vltaphone the success of my other classmate was dxsclosed when Ervy Zlegler gave to the world some of hls secrets for progresslve farmlng on lrrlgated land Lol Reamsnyder v'f19301'+ IIIIII rrllulllulllll IVIIIIIIIlllllllllllllllllllllIlllIIIIIlllIIIlllllllllllllllllllIIIIIIII IIIIllIllIIIIIIIHIIllIIllIllIIIlIIllIIlIIIIIIHIIHIIVIIUIIIIIIIIIllllllllllllllllllllllllllll , . 1 1 , . . . . . . . .
