ACfI7JIflQS of The Senzor Class On September 10 1946 the Semor Class of 1950 entered the halls of Van Alstyne I-hgh School as mere Freshmen with the great est of hopes Mrs Edxth Knape and Mr J E Pomdexter were our most able sponsors Everyone regarded us as greenhorns although we had d1fferent oplrnons Agam as Sophomores we were guxded over the rough spots by Mrs Knape and Mr Po1ndexter We slowly learned from exper1 ence how a d1gn1f1ed hxgh school student should act As we became Jumors our 1ntell1gence and prestlge lncreased Certam members of our class gamed recogn1t1on 1n the athlet1c f1eld Th1S year Mlss Joan Hunter and Mr R R Hyman served as sponsors Each year It 15 customary for the Jumors to sponsor f1nance th1s annual event Our long awa1ted goal ha arrxved after eleven years of frultful work We are now the enthus1ast1c Semors of 1950 guxded by Mrs Earl Jones and Mr E W V1 alter Of all the f1rst graders who started to school 1n 1939 only exght are graduat1ng from th1s hlgh school th1s year They are Mary Ann Beseda Cynth1a Brown Delano Cavender Brock F1fer Charlesene Mart1n Dorxs McNeese Georgla Mullenlx and Audrey Nell Sledge Among other dlstmctlons we have been the only class to have members on a Keg1ona1 Champ1onsh1p Football team Also we have elected the same g1rl Georgxa Mullemx as our pres1dent for the four consecutlve h1gh school years We the Semors of 1950 w1sh to thank the teachers who have been so understandmg pat1ent and l-und to us for the past eleven years We w11l long remember what you have done for us and your efforts to make us what we should be 11 o n s r a ll ll the Junior-Senior Banquet.
