Summer was over h. the lazy days of lying endlessly in the sun and the long nights of parties stretching into the wee hours of morn, we placed behind us. Valparaiso once again prepared for the return of its students. They came in cars, VW buses, vans, and U-Hauls as the generation of ttspirith was moving, moving into school. Lots and driveways became im- penetrable as people milled aimlessly,unload- ing suitcases, boxes, and bags of every shape and size; their contents containing each indi- viduafs lifestyle for the next nine months. Dorms, apartments, and houses were crowded with the influx of former residents, new peo- ple establishing themselves, and parents re- minding. The campus was alive again, as each of us envisioned the year's traumas and ecsta- atig cies unfolding before us. heermann heermann 19
