For students did not spend most of their time in class. Living conditions, whether in dormitories or apart- ments, contributed a great deal to student happi- ness. Dorm life used to be more varied at Valpo. The dorms were unique, each dorm being different from the others. After World War II housing was in short supply, and not only were the dorms filled, but barracks were erected as temporary housing. Fraternities and sororities lived in their individual houses, and married students lived in a trailer court. Regardless of what living conditions existed, they were important to students because they provided the setting for some of the most lasting friendships which formed among students. 21
