'r- 5 ,--41 Homecoming was filled with various traditions in years past. Although some still remain, many have disap- peared. On Friday morning of Home- coming weekend, a German band once traveled around campus, break- ing up classes and starting the week- end on a musical note. If an instructor would not dismiss his class, the band marched right into the classroom. On Friday night, a huge bonfire, built and guarded by the freshmen, burned on the tundra. It climaxed the Coronation of the queen and the all-school pep rally. A parade down Lincolnway, complete with floats, bands and hors- es was the highlight of Saturday morn- ing. For some years, students dressed up as hobos and marched down the ... 1. F1- street. A hobo queen and king were then chosen by the students, and the hobo queen chose the winner of the contest for the best-looking male legs. Another tradition which enjoyed pop- ularity for some time was the pushball contest between freshmen and sopho- mores. Saturday afternoon was filled with cheers of glee and groans of de- spair as the Crusaders marched across Brown Field. The spirit of the whole weekend resounded in the sound of the victory bell whenever the Crusad- ers won. 2 3. n.. -lf .w 1 -- --
