Classes never were everything at Valparaiso Universi- ty. T0 relieve the pressure of academia and to enjoy some fun and fellowship with other students, there were always extra-curricular activities. Students worked on the schools publications Cnote students Al Looman and john Strietelmeier examining an issue of the TORCH as it comes off the press D, in student gov- ernment, and on drama and music productions. Excur- sions to the Dunes, weekend parties, and train trips to nearby football games: all these activities helped to fill all of the free time of students. Students put books aside to find the moments to decorate the Union at Christmas, stop at the Shanty for lunch, or to simply catch a few minutes of sleep.
