The Honors Convocation each semester, rewarding the academic prowess of out- standing students, is one such event. Convocations of this kind are commenced by the pro- cession of the faculty. Each faculty I1'lC1'l1lJCI'7S attire is adorned by the colors ol his degree. This presents both an interesting and colorful spectacle. To the left and above the chancel is the large pulpit of the Chapel. From this location the President of the University, Dr. O. P. Kretzniann, addresses the student body.

The Valparaiso Union is the all-encompassing center of university social events. The Victory Bell at the en- trance denotes the athletic enthusiasm of V. U. students for the Valparaiso University Crusaders. Spectators or not, students flock to the Great Hall of the Union for after-game dances during the basketball season. During the Unionas long, daily hours one may always find students relaxing or getting in that last-minute cram session in the large lounge or snack-shop. Many utilize the cafeteria for their needed sustenance. The bookstore is a new and pleasant addition to the Union.
