Campus Events To relieve the tension buiit up in the people of the university community by the academic, a social program therefore becomes an integral part in the functioning of Valpo. Such Campus Events as the spring AH-School Picnic, and the Homecoming celebration in the fall help to relieve this pressure. The cultural events take I their place too. KISS ME KATE the spring production is just one of many i concerts and programs presented throughout the year The honors convoca- tion is an event which combines the Academics of the University, the Spirit. and the Population.

Homecoming The Centennial Homecoming of 1959 was the most successful event of the year. Thousands of guests, alumni, and parents flocked to Valpo to become a part of the festive atmosphere. The big weekend started with the traditional band playing the students and profs. out of the classrooms like a mass of Pied Pipers. The smiling counten- ance of Queen Kelly Wagner graced ValpoTs homecoming throne throughout the weekend The success of the weekend can be estimated by the crowds of people at the partiese receptions, and dances. Although even a real crusader - on horseback did not help the Valpo gridders from losing a heart breaker to Butler 10 - 7. 19
