Witli the able assistance of Nifty O. P. leads alums and student body in the singing of the alma mater. The Pied Pipers of Valpo -otherwise known as the German Band of Homecoming. Ganschow, the Keystone Kop, stocks Prof. Hoelty-Nickel and Chuck Kucera. The German Band officially opened the Homecoming activities, calling the Hoboes out of class and leading them downtown in the traditional Hobo Parade. The stocks were always filled with those offending the Student Council decree in refusing :to grow a beard. The Bonfire, burning brightly but not quite so high as last year, was probably the last in a long tradition. An everyone cheered as Valpo shut out DePauw, 37-0. The roaring flames of Valpo's last Homecoming bonfire. G'

bv in'-Q li' ,f 'l Miss Patricia Shebik, Homecoming Queen of 1958. Homecoming ueen I was really surprised to hear that I was even picked for the Homecoming Court-in fact, I just about fell over. But I was flabbergasted when I was chosen Queen. I just didn't expect itg I cou1dn't believe it. These were the 'breathless reactions of lovely Pat when she was crowned Valpo's 1958 Homecoming Queen by President O. P. Kretzmann. Following the traditional kiss by President Kretzmann, Queen Pat handed the lighted torch to the freshman bonfire chairman to set the annual bonfire ablaze. Pat is a sophomore elementaiy education major from Webster Groves, Mo.

Crowds, Contests and Co-eds Worthy of the queenly titles they bear, these lovely Valpo co-eds were chosen by the Valparaiso men, faculty judges, or the Torch to reign over their particular festivities or contest. The Spring Festival llVeek-Em! queen was chosen by the campus' males from an attractive array of candidates put up by the fraternities.
