T196 Preyident Lead; In his inaugural address of 1940, Dr. 0. P. Kretzmann said, uWe can build here at Valpo a school Whose greatness is the greatness of Freedom under God, the greatness of the free preservation and transmission of truth, the greatness of an intelligent and dynamic application of a militant faith. The lasr 17 years have been the outgrowth of this dreamea dream for a great school. Hard times have passed into times of great hope. Expansion, growth, and continuous improvement have been the outstanding merits of Valpo. Through these years our president has been the guiding light of the univer- sity. The academic, religious, social and athletic phases of school life have all been influenced by his leadership. Remaining as a personal friend of Valparaisois student body, faculty, and friends, President 0. P. Kretzmann con- tinues to be an integral part of Valpo and the Valpo tradition.
