FACULTY SENATE LIBRARY STAFF Miss Bushing, Mr. Stager, Miss Steinke, Prof Grunau, Mrs. Sehwan, Mrs. Bowden, Mnjohnson. 29 The members of the Faculty Senate are the full professors and associate professors of the various departments on the teaching staff. It meets with the President once a month to formulate policies affecting the general welfare of the university. The university library is the place where stu- dents congregate either for term paper research, a peaceful study atmosphere, or forjust a chance to read the newspaper. In addition to the books, pam- phlets, and microfilm kept in the library, the uni- versityTs archives and rare keepsakes are found here.

SOCIAL DIRECTOR When Miss Helen Mae Olson was asked how she liked her full time position as social director of Valparaiso University, she replied, hI just love it?, Her aim is to organize a well-rounded social program that will include all students, and which will be in accord with the traditions and spirit of Valparaiso University. Miss Olson PLACEMENT SERVICE. Mr. Alfred Looman, Director of the Place- ment Service, assists seniors and alumni in finding employment in their fields of interest and training. Through this service seniors receive the latest information on openings in business and industry. Mr. Looman, Mrs. Graebner, Secretary GUILD OFFICE As the Valparaiso University Guild cele- brates its Silver Anniversary, it can look back on twenty-flve prosperous years of the pro- motion of Valparaiso University. Its fund for building a Guild Chapel on East campus has been completed and its pres- ent project is to furnish this small chapel. STUDENT COUNCIL OFFICERS . The chief executive 0fthe Student Council, who , led the university student body this past year, was President Peter Krentz. V His many duties included guiding the work of the Student Council, appointing committees, corres- , ponding with prospective students, representing the student body on the Union Board, appointing publi- cation editors, representing the student body in and out of the university family, and receiving complaints and constructive ideas about things in general. Prexidmt Peter Krentz Student Council vice-president, Jim Moy, presided over all of the Student Council meetings and followed up the work of the president. Serving as Student Council secretary, Betty Kupke was in charge of keeping the minutes of the meetings and calling special meetings. Treasurer of the Student Council this year was Millard Becker. He executed the'duties ef the chairman of the Budget Board and kept the financial records in order.
