She was graduated from the West La Fayette High School and studied for two years at the La Fayette Conservatory of Music. She came to Valparaiso in 1917 to continue the study of music. She studied music at the College of St. Catherine, St. Paul, during the year 1914-15, and was a member of the College Choral Club. Elsie made her appearance in Valpo in 1917, a homesick looking girl, to contian the study of Piano and Voice. With her winning smile she captured the hearts of many friends.
