Art students work with leather and string in their macrame project. Macrame introduced to art classes Macrame, the art of creative knotting, was one of several projects introduced in art classes this year. For the first time, students made geometric string figures and paraffin candles, while some transformed eggs into opp art creations. With the assistance of student teachers throughout the year. Mr. Cain taught art clas- ses the basics of sculpturing and drawing. The student body viewed the results of the art program in the various show cases. Roh Nelson assists a fellow art student in the handling of inking a stencil. 17

Paula Morphis helps serve at the Ham Dinner sponsored by the band. Band illustrates versatility The Marching Vikings, directed by Mr. Robert Miller, entertained during halftime at home football games. At the close of foot- ball, the band auditioned for positions in the concert band, which gave performances in the Christmas program and the Spring Concert. They also participated in the state contest and NISBOVA. The proceeds from the annual Ham Dinner held at T.J. were used toward the purchas- ing of badly needed uniforms. The pep band played their spirit-lifting marches during pep sessions and football and basketball games. Mary Dust helps Nicky Hasse gel ready for a half-time performance. 19
