Candy canes in all shapes and sizes could be found in Boucher gym on December 9, I960, the date of the Candy Cane Cotillion. Couples entered through an aisle of evergreen trees and six-foot candy canes into a star-filled wonderland. In the center of the floor silver icicles hung from a large tree on which a blue light reflected. Soft and silk-like angel hair decorated the Christmas trees on the stage. The winter scene there was further enhanced by two seven-foot candy canes which provided the background for the pic- tures taken of individual couples. Along the sides white draped sheets displayed pine branches, colored lights, and small candy canes. The evening’s dance music was provided by the Roger Lines Band. The Christmas Dance was sponsored this year by three capable organizations-the Y-Teens, the Hi-Y, and the Dramatics Club. The officers of these clubs, Suzanne Johnson, president of Y-Teens; Tom Ranck, president of Hi-Y; and Terry Collings, president of Dramatics Club, led the Grand March at 10 o’clock. Following them were the 170 couples in attendance. Hi-Y boys decorate the stage from all heights. Officers of three sponsoring clubs and their dates lead the grand march. 23
